Head of Content


The Head Of Content oversees all content marketing initiatives, both internal and external, across multiple channels and formats to drive awareness, lead generation, sales, engagement, and customer marketing. You are an expert in all things related to content and product value, brand consistency, segmentation, analytics, and meaningful measurement. The position sits within the Marketing team but heavily collaborates with the departments of Product Management and Sales, to help define both the brand story and the story as interpreted by prospects and customers across a wide spectrum of channels.

The successful candidate will lead the team of content writers. This requires leadership, mentoring, and the ability to assess and exercise judgment over the quality and productivity of writers from a content perspective. This person will be centric between writers, web designers, CMO, and the web development team.

  • The leadership of product messaging that resonates with the relevant persona and sparks interest.
  • Development of standards and processes for content marketing.
  • Mentoring and development of content skills in the product marketing team.
  • Coordination with development, marketing, sales, and business development teams.
  • Ensuring all content is consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content including online, social media, email, video, and in-person. This is to be done for each buyer and user persona.
  • Mapping out a content strategy that supports and extends marketing initiatives, both short- and long-term, determining which methods work for the brand and why. The continuous evolution of strategy is a must.
  • The development of a functional content calendar and its efficient execution.
  • Developing standards, systems, and best practices (both human and technological) for content creation, distribution, maintenance, content retrieval, and content repurposing.
  • Enabling content writers in their role; be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing, and style.
  • Integration of content activities within traditional marketing campaigns.
  • Leveraging market data to develop content themes/topics and execute a plan to develop the assets that support a point of view and educate customers.
  • Establishing workflow for requesting, creating, editing, publishing, and retiring content.
  • Conducting periodic competitive audits.
  • Supervising the maintenance of content inventories and matrices.
  • Participation in the hiring and supervising of content writers.
  • Work closely with design on all creative and branding initiatives to ensure a consistent message across channels.
You have:
  • A deep knowledge of content marketing, its functionalities, and its metrics to drive differentiated content experiences.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role managing relevant SaaS related content team, preferably B2B-related.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage digital content programs through the entire project lifecycle, including strategy, planning, execution, reporting, and maintenance.
  • The ability to quickly understand customer needs/product value and translate them into writing.
  • The ability to distill and prioritize tasks as well as get buy-in on both of those aspects from multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • The capability to argue your own ideas as well as conceptualize others’ ideas, diving into detail when necessary.
  • Experience working and communicating effectively with business owners, senior leaders and colleagues up and down the organizational ladder.
  • Ability to lead a team of writers effectively, creating an environment of constant learning and skill sharing.
